Whether you work in an office, engineering or construction environment an understanding of COSHH should never be underestimated. Thousands of people every year fall ill due to contact with hazardous substances.

Many people are unsure when it comes to conducting COSHH Assessments; where to obtain the correct information, what control measures to implement and how to monitor control.

This course is designed to develop the knowledge of those potentially at risk from contact with hazardous substances in the workplace; how to assess and control that risk, and best prevent or limit exposure.


Certification for this course is valid for 3 years.

  • COSHH regulations and what they mean

  • The potential effects of exposure

  • Guidance and finding information

  • Conducting COSHH assessments

  • Adequate control and the principles of good control practice

  • Hierarchy of control and reliability

  • Choosing and using RPE

  • Choosing and using PPE


Assessment

To confirm understanding, students will by assessed through their contribution toward group discussion, in addition to an open-book multiple choice examination and the completion of a COSHH assessment.
