Walk 'n' Talk: THE PSYCHOLOGICAL CONTRACT

Risk management: 3-5 min Walk ’n Talk No.6 - THE PSYCHOLOGICAL CONTRACT
An implicit, unwritten 'contract' linked to mutual expectations of the employer & employee.
In my experience, two areas of risk stand out:
1. Bosses break this at their peril.
Fairness, equity & empathy aren’t much to ask of those who commit to your organisation & goals. The flip side is unhappiness, demotivation, loss of productivity & maybe even malicious behaviour.
2. Identify & manage the risk of 'Ability & Aptitude'.
The HR function can prevent or promote issues due to a mismatch in the person/job fit. If Ability & Aptitude requirements aren't accurately reflected in Recruitment Selection Training & Pay Structures, the expectations of the employer & employee are at risk of not being met.
PCR Take-a-ways
1 - Ability: the capacity to perform intellectual & physical tasks
2 - Aptitude: the capacity to learn an ability
3 - Risk: effect of uncertainty on objectives
4 - Employee cycle risk
How is your psychological contract?
Time to test and adjust?
Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Stay Productive.
