In any developing industry, competence could be short lived due to the impact of progress. If we have a passion for continuous development we've got a chance of staying competent .. if we rely on our experience or old qualifications, these can quickly become out dated.
You can move from school to University & never work in an operational role. But you can also work for 40yrs, yet spend 40yrs exercising bad habits.
There is no such thing as standing still - we are either moving forward or sliding backwards.
