A 'Grab-Bag' Mentality ... What's in Yours?? (Pt. I)

Real Risk Management | Ground Truth Series

After requests for further videos, I thought I'd share the 'grab-bag mentality'.

Security operatives will be familiar with a grab-bag. It holds essentials, often emergency related & something you reach for when you need it the most.

I first used the term ‘grab-bag’ mentality in 2008 when doing a talk on a Close Protection Course for Minerva Elite’s Sean Colsey MSc PGdip to compare our heads/minds to a grab-bag. Its one we will always have with us & with the right contents it can save lives.

In this video I outline the benefits of mnemonics & frameworks to improve ‘observation, thinking, decisions’ when on the ground. It's one thing to get answers from Google, but another to have them in contemplation in a live consultancy/auditing scenario.

The mnemonic discussed today is PEME:

  1. People

  2. Equipment

  3. Materials

  4. Environment

I also emphasise how PEME benefits exams/assignments writing. I hope its of use, if not at least I got to listen to skylarks for 10mins.
