Audit Leadership? Such a thing?
Author: Andrew Protheroe
I would say certainly, Yes.
Whilst Leadership is ‘Leadership’ if you want Audit Leadership to be a ‘thing’, then it can only help to focus all involved 🙂
… just make it a thing! No one is going to shave your head and send you to a war zone … Take control!
My personal experience is that unfortunately, many Senior Leadership Teams take little notice of the audit report,… and even less notice of the audit program.
The audit program is critical to effective and efficient audits.
Senior leadership should work with internal auditors to design a risk based audit program that will do its best to create and protect value in the company (ISO31000) - it should support company and departmental objectives.
The most effective programs follow an open and collaborative approach which involves the heads of department.
ISO19011 provides a 6 step process for both managing an audit program and undertaking an audit … which is why it should be understood by internal auditors.
